The New York Times is ignoring elder abuse of famed author Harper Lee, who wrote To Kill a Mockingbird…

The octogenarian author was ‘given’ a copy of Go Set a Watchman and didn’t recognize it as a crummy first draft of her To Kill a Mockingbird. Clearly lawyers, agents and family members exploiting Ms. Lee’s dementia, but writers for The New York Times are taking the story in the direction of: “we’re super-excited for Lee’s estate vultures.”

Harper Lee Receives Copy of ‘Go Set a Watchman’ as Release Nears

The New York Times, June 7

Nearly 60 years after Harper Lee wrote “Go Set a Watchman,” the novel she hoped would be her literary debut, the 89-year-old author was handed a finished copy of the book at a private lunch in Monroeville, Ala., last week.

Despite the manuscript’s long and uncertain journey to publication, Ms. Lee seemed breezily self-assured about the book’s highly anticipated releasenext week, people who attended said.

Supreme Court’s ban on knockoff pot uses same language as laws protecting pharmaceutical patents.

A new legal ban on bath salts (knockoff pot) is worded just like laws protecting pharmaceutical patents.

Recreational drugs boost the immune system: New Look At Pot-Smoking Pygmies Suggests Marijuana Helps Deter Parasites

I wonder if any recreational drugs used in America boost the immune system in a helpful way:

The most effective people have often benefitted from self-titration of illicit drugs.

The most robust and effective people have often benefitted from self-titration of drugs that are quite dangerous in the hands of the incompetent. Adderall has been the gold-standard “go pill” for fighter pilots and scientists since World War II, as well as elite lawyers, and bankers. Freud used to take (and offer to friends) small pinches of cocaine throughout the day. Special forces doubtless use similar doping regimens to that of Lance Armstrong. This seems all to the good because it gives America an edge.

Check out these performance-enhancing drugs for geniuses. Let’s make honest men Jobs, Freud, Crick

To move America out of the Great Stagnation, America should explore drug policies that enhance the effectiveness of our superstars. Let’s change drug culture, laws, and policy in America to encourage more experimentation with drugs.  Performance-enhancing ones, and also recreational ones.

LSD is a “thinking tool.” — Francis Crick

“Taking LSD was a profound experience, one of the most important things in my life.”

“If all goes well, I will write an essay [on cocaine] and I expect it will win its place in therapeutics by the side of morphine and superior to it… I take very small doses of it regularly against depression and against indigestion and with the most brilliant of success.”

“LSD is a psychedelic drug which occasionally causes psychotic behavior in people who have NOT taken it.” – Timothy Leary

The drug debate in America need not focus on giving the masses their opiates.
